Last week our Board meeting had a rather special agenda, as at Devon Community Foundation we prepared to wish a fond farewell to our Chair of Trustees, Steve Hindley, who has stepped down after almost 20 years.
Steve joined DCF as a trustee in 2001 before taking on the role of Chairman in 2014.
He tells us:
“Devon Community Foundation is a most wonderful charitable organisation that I have had the privilege to be involved with as a trustee for nearly 20 years.
Consisting of a very small group of very dedicated individuals, DCF channel the philanthropic donations from its donors to fund many small charities in Devon, who would otherwise find it very difficult to raise funds.
As I stand down from my six-year term as Chairman of the Board of Trustees I can reflect upon the many positive changes I have seen over time.
The biggest change has obviously been the increase in our funding capability through the very generous donations from many local benefactors.
This in turn has enabled us to broaden our offer to charities throughout the county but also most important to embark on significant projects like Wellbeing Exeter.
I believe that DCF will go from strength to strength under its dedicated staff and Board of Trustees and I intend to continue to support the team in any way I can including continuing my Chairmanship of Devon Social Fund.”
We would like to say a huge thank you to Steve and wish him the best of luck with all his other and future endeavours.
