DCF Insight is One!

Congratulations to our Insight Team, which celebrates its first birthday in its current form. A year ago, we began a more intentional focus on working with external partners (alongside our internal work), as a way of deepening our understanding of the county, the strengths and challenges facing residents, and those who support them. We are unique among UK Community Foundations in embedding this consultancy function at the heart of our organizational structure. It has been a wonderful year, if very busy. We have worked with a range of partners, from the NHS to town councils, to other foundations and funders. Our research has taken us from Seaton to Buckfastleigh, and from Ilfracombe to Moretonhampstead. Highlights include:

Being part of Ilfracombe Poverty Truth Commission’s Learning Team
Chairing the VCSE Assembly’s Research Community of Practice, and hosting a range of events, training and workshops to champion the sector’s role in research
An evaluation of outcomes-based funding of VCSE organisations to address health inequalities for the Integrated Care Board (ICB) of the NHS
Evaluating the work of the Local Care Partnerships for the ICB
Developing a model for place-based community action based on Social Health principles with colleagues from the Eastern Local Care Partnership
Establishing our UK Rural Philanthropy project, in collaboration with Somerset Community Foundation and IVAR, and to begin to build an evidence base on this overlooked topic
