In 2010, in an interview for The Western Morning News, our CEO Martha said:

Now seems like as relevant time as any to revisit her words because at DCF we’re launching a brand-new hashtag – the function of which, is to sum up what we do. Something that was achieved successfully back then by this very honest snapshot.
Why hashtag?
In the ten years since that article, and indeed, in the last 23 it is since we began, how we communicate has changed. Today, our marketing strategy relies almost exclusively, on the use of social networks and online platforms. Clippings from newspapers have made way for electronic, interactive, 280-character snippets.
In an electronic world where messages sometimes have to be short, a hashtag can be a useful tool. The right one used well should create an immediate association to us, our objectives and our ethos.
We hope that users relating to us and our messages will engage with our #, re-use and share it, therefore representing us and our message far and wide throughout Devon and beyond.
And that reach, we hope, will bring us more success. Success to do more of what we do.
What our hashtag means.
At Devon Community Foundation we champion the ethos of giving.
It’s true, on a practical level, our being here does rely on the financial aspect of that. We need money in order to operate, and the very nature of what we do is to pass on money to others who use it to help our communities thrive.
But we also embrace and encourage giving at whatever level it operates. Giving time, giving empathy, giving expertise, giving kindness – especially if it concerns our Devon Communities.
Giving of any sort relies, as Martha states, on humanity and emotion. It’s about feeling something for others and reacting to that in kind.
So that’s why when we see signs of that here in Devon, in our communities, by our hand or by those surrounding us, we’re flagging it up by using:
