This November DCF is excited to announce the launch of a brand-new grant scheme called Thrive with 5.
Thrive With 5 is designed to run alongside DCF’s Community Grants that opened earlier this year, with both supporting community groups whose activity aims to improve lives and communities across Devon.
Where Community Grants look to facilitate small and immediate grants of up to £2,000, Thrive With 5, as the name suggests, will provide grants of up to £5,000 within a set of pre-determined but changing themes.
DCF works hard to understand and keep up to date with what is happening within our communities and across the charitable landscape of Devon. We use this knowledge to help inform our grant-making which in turn, is made possible with the generous input of our donors.
Thrive with 5 is just one example of this process at work, and as such, will reflect where we find and can support, emerging priorities across Devon.
The first funding round available through Thrive with 5 that were pleased to confirm opens today, will focus on:
Early Years
We know that many children under 5 have been placed at a significant disadvantage due to the pandemic and circumstances over the last 18 months plus. Parents that had babies in lockdown for example, cared for them alone, and their children now face the outside world having never met face to face with anyone other than their immediate household, or having had the benefit of added support towards their development.
Environment
You don’t have to look far to understand some of the issues facing our planet. This funding aims to provide some solutions to that that prove two-fold – by addressing environmental damage and climate change using the power of community. This could be by raising awareness or carrying out activities together.
DCF would like to take this opportunity to thank the following donors who have made this work possible.
