On Thursday 25th May 2023 DCF worked with the Devon Food Partnership to convene a summit on food insecurity in Devon at the University of Exeter. Shockingly high levels of food insecurity affect a widening range of Devon residents.
Our Insight team has been at the heart of several important pieces of research over the past few months, working in partnership with colleagues at Devon County Council, the VCSE Assembly, and other community-based organisations to build an impressive evidence base. The summit brought together policymakers, council officers, food producers, researchers and food support providers to discuss ways to take action collectively to address the effects of this and prevent it happening in future. For DCF, involvement in this kind of insight work is invaluable in informing effective and strategic grantmaking.

The research discussed at the Summit has been funded by Devon County Council and Devon Community Foundation. Five of the six research projects have been coordinated by the VCSE Assembly Food Insecurity Specialist Hub.
