Funding for this scheme is made possible via the NHSE (NHS England) Third Wave Transformation funding, with additional funding provided by our partners Sedel-Collings Foundation and Sovereign Network Group in partnership with the Devon County Council and Torbay Council Public Health Teams.
Two types of grants were available for organisations that work to address one or more of the eight priorities drawn from the national framework for suicide prevention or local action plans:
The programme was significantly oversubscribed and we received more than 60 applications with a total requested value in excess of £570,000. We were able to award 18 grants, funding a variety of work addressing suicide prevention within a diverse range of communities. Among those who received grants were:
Unite Carers – to support the costs of providing their one to one befriending service, reducing loneliness and social isolation amongst those with caring responsibilities.
Phoenix Rising – to provide recovery support activities for women who have experienced domestic or sexual violence and abuse.
Gaia Giving – to run a range of interventions in their community hub, designed to reduce social isolation and increase community mental wellbeing.
