As the amount available was small and very targeted we used our knowledge of community food projects to identify organisations that would be a good fit and invited them to submit an application.
We were able to make eight grants of just over £4,000 each. Among those who received grants were:
JarSquad – to facilitate their monthly community assemblies in Plymouth, turning near-waste food into jams and preserves.
Knead to Connect – to set up an affordable food club and cookery workshops in Moretonhampstead.
Open Door Exmouth – to run the new ‘Toast’ Youth Café and provide cookery workshops for young people in Exmouth

We are proud of our extensive knowledge of Devon’s communities, which enables us to make grants like these.
