To simplify the process and save time for applicants, we will use our extensive and constantly growing database of voluntary, charitable and social enterprise organisations to identify those that fit the funds we have available at any time. We will then invite relevant organisations to submit an application.
If you have applied for funding from us since 1 January 2023, successful or not, you will already be on our list and we will consider you for all funding on a rolling basis. We will be publishing this list on our website so previous applicants can check that we have a record of them.
If you haven’t applied for funding from us in that time, or would like to update your details, you can complete a brief Getting to Know You form. After completing our eligibility checklist, we will ask you a few questions to find out what you do, where, and with whom. Once you have submitted this form, you will be on our database and we will invite you to apply when we have relevant funding.

Where an organisation does not have its own bank account and is not yet formally constituted, we may often consider paying a grant to a host organisation whereThe host organisation is a registered charity, CIC or Parish or Town Council
We will request written confirmation from host organisations that they will be holding funds on behalf of the applicant, for the purposes of the grant. Receipt of this confirmation will be required before the application is considered complete. Please note that any groups applying in partnership with a host organisation will still be expected to provide evidence of financial management (eg a basic cashflow) and to have relevant policies in place as per our standard requirements. A host organisation can act as a host for more than one applicant and is able to apply to Devon Community Foundation for a grant in their own name whilst being a host.
The likelihood of being invited to apply will depend on which or how many funds you are eligible for. As our database is growing, we anticipate that the number of eligible organisations will exceed the amount of funding available at any given time.
To avoid wasting applicants’ time, we will keep the number of groups we invite to apply proportionate to the value of grants we are able to make, so that when groups are invited to make an application, they will have a much better chance of success.
We will run different processes for each fund, drawing on eligible organisations from the database. Some of these processes will involve randomisation, where organisations are equally well placed to deliver work, and some will involve panels with donors and/or members of the community.
Repeat and continuation of funding for previous recipients may be possible, but eligibility will depend on the specific fund, its priorities, and the level of funding available in that cycle.
While we recognise the importance of sustaining long-term initiatives and understand that some projects may benefit from multi-year support, we also aim to ensure equitable access to funding opportunities. As such, decisions about repeat funding will be made on a fund-by-fund basis, considering strategic priorities and available resources.
We will be as transparent as we can about how we make these decisions, and will keep in touch with groups on our database on a regular basis to update them on our grantmaking. Information about our grant awards is also available via 360Giving.
It is likely that the number of eligible organisations will outnumber the amount of funding we have available at any given time. We will endeavor to match organisations to suitable funding and your organisational details will remain on our database for as long as it’s needed to support our work and meet any legal responsibilities. We regularly review and update the information we hold to make sure it remains accurate and relevant. All data is handled responsibly and in line with our GDPR policy. You can contact us at any time to withdraw your consent or request that your information be removed from our records, via grants@devoncf.com.

Yes. However, there is no guarantee that you will be invited to apply for funding for a specific project; invitations are dependent on the funding that is currently available and cannot be awarded for work which has already taken place. We are committed to providing unrestricted grants where possible, so that organisations can spend funding in ways that best fit the needs of their communities.
Yes, we can fund partnership projects – there will be an opportunity for you to name up to three partner organisations on the Getting to Know You form. We welcome the opportunity to support collaborative projects.
