The Devon on Earth Grant Scheme is a partnership between DCF and Sovereign Housing aimed at reducing environmental damage while bringing communities together.
Grants are available to fund a variety of activities that promote positive change and understanding of the impact of climate change and human activity on the local community.

The Woodland Presents CIC received £2,000 in 2020 for their pilot Environmental Arts Therapy (EAT) sessions. The sessions were for individuals with severe, enduring, and complex mental health difficulties. The project was facilitated by two qualified and HCPC registered mental health professionals. EAT used nature as its therapeutic medium and has been found to improve mental and physical wellbeing.
Sessions were held in ‘The Glade’ located in the breathtaking North Woods. The Glade is a community venue nestled within a woodland setting encouraging people to establish a real connection with nature.

Mount Batten Centre Charity Trust received £3,060 for their project, ‘Paddle for Plastic’ earlier this year.
Paddle for Plastic is a school engagement project in Plymouth. It’s aimed at providing children and young people with special educational needs or from deprived areas with a hands-on connection to the ocean.
The project uses paddle sport vessels to collect plastic waste from the coastline and develop knowledge and passion for reducing plastic waste. The project aims to develop the next generation of marine citizens, igniting a passion for marine conservation in young people. It aims to produce a tangible visual representation of the youngsters’ efforts in storing plastic waste in a cage to demonstrate the scale of the issue.

Significant Seams CIC is another grantee that received £4,900 earlier this year for their project, #patchworkdevon.
The project aims to reuse textile waste to support vulnerable people and frontline workers. The project offers workshops where participants learn to make a patchwork tote bag from reclaimed fabric and draw a representative of their happy place in Devon.
They also aim to raise awareness of textile waste and host an exhibition of patchwork totes and offers free printable guidance and ‘How-To’ videos for wider participation.
