What is the Use the Force Charity Challenge?
The Use the Force Charity Challenge is a virtual event that challenges competitors to conquer 30 miles on foot during October 2020.
Every successful applicant will receive a prestigious winners medal but more importantly, every entry into the challenge will provide a valued contribution to the Chief Constable’s Foundation.
What is the Chief Constable’s Foundation?
The Chief Constable’s Foundation aims to protect the vulnerable, reduce crime and safeguard our neighbourhoods and communities. We fund groups, projects, charities and individuals within the force area which strive to achieve these aims, particularly by addressing disadvantage and deprivation, building thriving communities and fostering safer neighbourhoods.
One of the organisations that the fund has supported recently are Torbay Ladies’ Lounge who provide vital support to vulnerable women – you can read their funding story here.
The Chief Constable’s Foundation is managed and administered by Devon Community Foundation.
How do I take part?
To take part all you have to do to register your pledge to complete 30 miles in October is complete your details on our donate page together with your entry fee of £12.
During the month of October you will then have to walk, jog or run 30 miles, tracking your progress as you go.
At the end of the month you will be asked to submit evidence of your miles to receive a Use The Force Charity Challenge medal - a memento of both your fantastic personal achievement and amazing contribution to an important local charity.
Can anyone enter?
Absolutely anyone can enter!
You are invited to join other Use The Force competitors by sharing your photos and experiences along the way on our Facebook page.
What happens if I register after the start of October.
You can register and start your journey at any point, as long as you complete your 30 mile challenge within the month of October 2020.
What evidence do I need to provide?
Miles can be easily tracked with a recording device if you have one (Fitbit, Garmin, Apple Watch or phone app like Strava or Runkeeper.) All you have to do is send us a photo or screenshot of the 30 miles (or more!) you have logged in the month of October.
If you do not have access to a tracker, just keep a track of your miles as you complete them. You can then send us your spreadsheet or even handwritten copy of your training log, as long as it shows 30 miles for the month of October.
Once you have registered, you will receive information about where to send your evidence once the challenge is complete.
