DCF have been developing a Food Network Programme to connect food support organisations across Devon. This network provides the opportunity for those involved to support and learn from one another, as well as to ultimately find ways to work collectively to support vulnerable children, young people and families with access to food.
We have formed agreements with six organisations, between them covering all of DCC Devon. They will be working between now and April 2021 to:
- Research and facilitate dialogue between food support organisations and others involved in food-related projects within their areas, and understand referral processes, links with other organisations, including schools, and public and private sector partners, obstacles to access to food, and examples of good practice. This will eventually result in a sense of the ‘ecosystem’ around food support in the various ‘centres’ identified.
- Bring together identified organisations to discuss how participation in a network or hub of some sort might help organisations overcome some of these obstacles, enable enhanced provision for families and children, and achieve longer term aims.
- Begin to trial new approaches to address identified obstacles.
DCF is supported by Devon County Council in this work and will be working closely with the lead organisations, bringing them together at different points during this initial period to discuss areas of investigation, and to share experiences and learning.
If you are an organisation or charity offering food and related support and would like to be part of your local conversation you can contact your local lead organisation. List below:
